Category Capability Benchmark (CCAI™)
The Category Capability Alignment Index (CCAI™) provides a structured benchmark of perceived organisational capability against the perceived future importance of each capability domain.
It is designed to help leadership teams understand where capability appears aligned, where it may be underpowered, and where structural imbalance may be creating friction across the wider Category system. As a practical leadership diagnostic, it provides a directional view of current capability and helps identify where deeper focus may be warranted.

What the benchmark isThe CCAI™ is built around four capability domains that together reflect how Category capability operates as a connected system.
It compares how current capability is perceived internally with the future importance of each domain, helping create a more structured view of likely strengths, weaker areas and possible friction. How it worksThe benchmark is designed as a directional diagnostic, used as part of a Private Research Briefing rather than as a standalone assessment.
As part of the process, 5 to 10 internal participants complete a short calibration survey. Their scores are averaged and compared with the current 50-supplier benchmark, creating an organisation-specific directional comparison with the industry-relative benchmark. |

The benchmark is particularly useful in leadership offsites, senior team discussions, internal strategy sessions and annual planning events.
The CCAI™ benchmark is designed to help leadership teams move beyond broad impressions and towards a more specific conversation about capability.
Typically, it helps reveal:
- where capability appears broadly aligned to future demands
- where future pressures may be outpacing current capability
- where structural imbalance may be making decisions or execution harder
- where more focused development or follow-through may unlock the most value
You receive:
- a comparative benchmark visual showing your organisation’s directional position
- short interpretation of relative strengths, weaker areas and possible friction points
- a small number of implications and next-step slides to support senior discussion
- clearer direction on where further capability development or follow-through is likely to matter most
The benchmark is particularly useful in leadership offsites, senior team discussions, internal strategy sessions and annual planning events.
How it fits with the wider offer
The benchmark is available as part of a Private Research Briefing, where the broader research context and the organisation-specific calibration can be interpreted together.
That combination helps leadership teams move from headline findings, to internal reflection, to a more grounded discussion about implications and next steps.
