Who this programme is for
Senior Category Managers and Category Leads who are taking on broader commercial accountability and need to operate credibly at controller or director level.

This programme is designed for experienced Category leaders who already understand the mechanics of Category Management and now need to contribute more effectively to enterprise‑level commercial decisions - building the judgement, confidence and credibility required at the next level, rather than signalling an immediate change in role or title.

​What this programme is about
As Category Managers become more senior, success depends less on analytical excellence and more on judgement: managing stakeholders, navigating trade‑offs and contributing confidently to leadership‑level decisions.
The focus is on operating credibly at the next level, not on titles or immediate progression — strengthening the capability required to take on broader commercial responsibility over time.
This programme supports the transition from senior Category expert to strategic commercial leader, strengthening how participants think about demand, value creation, investment and performance across categories, channels and markets.
The emphasis is not on frameworks or tools, but on how senior Category leaders think, decide and contribute in leadership forums.
Core themes
The programme is built around a small number of core themes that define controller‑level Category leadership:

1. Category as demand logic
Defining where and how categories grow across shoppers, missions, channels and time horizons.

2. Value, trade‑offs and performance
Using balanced scorecards to navigate the real tensions between growth, margin, shopper outcomes and retailer value.

3. Investment and capital allocation
Connecting category choices to investment decisions across price, promotion, range, media and innovation — and understanding return and risk implications.

4. Governance, roles and capability
What changes as Category moves into a controller‑level role: decision rights, operating rhythms, stakeholder management and leadership expectations.

These themes reflect the capability shift required at senior levels, rather than a fixed syllabus.
Programme format
This will be a senior‑level live programme, designed around:
  • Applied discussion and decision scenarios
  • Practical examples drawn from real commercial contexts
  • Peer exchange with experienced Category leaders
The final format, length and cohort design will be confirmed with the first waitlist group to ensure the programme reflects real demand and priorities, not assumed ones.
